Did Lieberman Call Obama a Traitor?

It’s time to cut Traitor Joe Lieberman loose.

In my opinion, the choice could not be more clear: … Between one candidate, John McCain, who has always put the country first, worked across party lines to get things done, and one candidate who has not.”

He just called Barack Obama a traitor.

To be fair, I cut out part of the quote:  Here it is in full.

“In my opinion, the choice could not be more clear: between one candidate, John McCain, who’s had experience, been tested in war and tried in peace, another candidate who has not.  Between one candidate, John McCain, who has always put the country first, worked across party lines to get things done, and one candidate who has not. Between one candidate who’s a talker, and the other candidate who’s the leader America needs as our next president.”

Here are 2 headlines covering the same story reaching different conclusions.

New York Times – Lieberman:  Obama Has Not Always Put Country First

ABC News – Obama Accused of Rarely Reaching Out to GOP

Upholding their so-called media liberal roots, the NY Times went right for treason angle.  And being a liberal myself, I went right with them.

ABC on the other hand, showing their ‘fair and balanced’ approach determined that Lieberman was referring to Obama’s partisanship.  His refusal to reach across the aisle to work with his Republican counterparts.

In both instances, Lieberman is a lying scum.  He is being disloyal to his party and completely making this up.

If ABC is correct, then let’s look at only a couple of bipartisan bills:

The Coburn (R) – Obama (D) bill to create an internet database of Federal Spending

Cosponsored with Tom Harkin (D) and Orrin Hatch (R) on the Americans with Disabilities Restoration Act

Worked with Richard Lugar (R) on numerous occasions.

Of course, Fox News ABC is obvious in their presidential preference.  When GMA had chief Obama strategist David Axelrod on 2 weeks ago, they asked him what Obama meant about his comment that he “doesn’t look like all those other presidents on the dollar bills.”

Axelrod said, “he’s said this repeatedly, as you mentioned, all over the country, he’s noted he’s not from central casting when it comes to candidates for president of the United States. He’s young. He’s new to Washington. Yes, he’s African-American.”

ABC News immediately jumped on the ‘Obama plays the race card’ angle.  If you go to the story on their site, they even removed the ‘He’s young” portion without informing their readers that something had been removed.

And don’t get me started on the ABC Democratic primary debate with Charlie Gibson and George Stephanopoulos.

Getting back to Lieberman – I am so tired of his mouth.  I can’t imagine anyone takes him seriously anymore which is why I am infuriated that the Democrats in the Senate still allow Lieberman to hold a leadership position.  They claim that it is in order for the Democrats to retain control of the Senate – like it matters anyway.  The Republicans have filibustered everything that moves.

It’s time for the Democrats to kick Lieberman out on his butt.  And it’s time for the party to publicize that Lieberman is a warmonger who puts these wars ahead of country, just like his friend John McCain.

I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again.  Harry Reid – have you had enough yet?

  1. I’ve had enough of Joe Lieberman. I posted about it a couple of months ago. Once the Dems have a majority in the Senate without Lieberman, he’ll be out of the caucus, I’m sure. (Whether he’s McCain’s running mate or not.)

  2. I know you’re right. But he has been playing the Democrats for fools for too long. Reid is just so diplomatic when discussing Lieberman.

Think of how close he came to being VP in 2000.

  3. Enough Already

Senator Lieberman had best whoop it up while he can since there is no way that he’ll eke out re-election. The man has, at long last, no shame.
