Lame. That is the only word I can come up with for the new BarackBook.com site.
Despicable, pathetic, disgraceful, appalling, contemptible, shameful, reprehensible. OK, so I lied. I could continue but first I’ll grab my Thesaurus.
The RNC launched barackbook.com today as an imitation of Facebook – a social networking site. Who they’d be trying to reach, I can not fathom.
Before I go on, I want to fully quote the New York Times:
Alex Conant, a spokesman for the R.N.C., said the ultimate goal of scrubbing the Facebook application page was to make sure the content was “consistent with a respectful campaign.”
Conant said ‘a respectful campaign?’
Right off the bat, the RNC was forced to pull the comment section off of this page as it was loaded with anti-Muslim and racist comments as well as vulgarities. Not to mention, some very objectionable comments as far as the RNC was concerned. Our friends at the DailyKos encouraged their readers to ‘befriend barackbook’ and turn it into a pro-Obama site.
This is from GOP.com:
The social networking site highlights some of Barack Obama’s notable associations throughout stages of his career, including his relationships with Tony Rezko, Nadhmi Auchi, and Alexi Giannoulias. Leveraging the popularity of social networking sites, BarackBook allows voters to explore Obama’s connections with these individuals as well as their connections to one another using video and news articles.
From BarackBook: William Ayers has updated his profile
Clicking on William Ayers, you are taken to the Ayers profile where the author discusses Ayers and his ‘relationship’ with Obama.
Is this what the RNC calls a ‘respectful campaign?’ This is the most vile, detestable smear campaign I could have possibly imagined.
This was introduced by the RNC and the GOP so McCain can say that he doesn’t approve of this.
As your party’s presumptive nominee, John, take control of the Republican Party and stop this idiocy now. You MUST do something about these smears.
