My tenth grade teacher taught us about the Holocaust. We read “Night”, “The Diary of Anne Frank”, and other works that were not books. I learned allot and before anyone can say anything about the Holocaust they need to do their share of research. Thank you Elie Weisel for writing night. It was by far the best bit of literature on the Holocaust that we read.

Mariana,
Being from an earlier generation, I did grow up with violence in cartoons and in movies.
My biggest concern with regards to today’s generation is the lack of respect:

Television programs portray children as smart, bratty and cocky. Adults (parents & teachers) are stupid, out of touch and always wrong. There is never any respect toward the adults.

In schools today, teachers have been stripped of all authority and will be disciplined just by looking wrong at a student.

Children today get everything they want – not just what they need. You should see what the teens drive in my city.

And you’re right, these things need to be taught in school. I had to twice read Weisel’s Night in school. My kids did read The Diary of Anne Frank but that’s the extent of their tolerance. They learn to be politically correct but not how to really tolerate.

people are stupid and ignorant, these individulas are getting famous for denying the torture and horrors that took place to millions of men women and children. i guess watching all those cgi based horror films and playing video games makes people feel less compassion when they see pictures of the terrible things humans are capable of. there is no convincing these people they are the ones that would probably line up for their uniform if another Reich should ever come to exist and be full of enthusiasm when they are asked to drag people to their death. education from early years MUST take place to teach children of the past and show them tolerance as well as what happens when humans are allowed to act as if they are rulers in hell.
